The six best robotic vacuum cleaners that reviewed in 2021

A robot vacuum will help you cross vacuuming off your never-ending to-do list. You’ll want one, though, that is strong, reasonably quiet, and does not need constant attention.

Although utilizing a robot vacuum is as simple as pressing a switch, all of our experts emphasized the value of constantly cleaning brushes and filters and operating the vac while no one is in the space to maintain clean indoor air quality and prevent resuspended particles.

Robot Vacuum Roborock S6

The Roborock S6 Robot Vacuum worked admirably in each test conducted. It soaked up more than 90% of the rice, coffee grounds, kitty litter, and when spread out on the carpet. On the hardwood, it performed much stronger, removing all but a trace of flour. The S6 vacuums to a depth of half an inch around corners — the deepest of any vacuum checked.

Additionally, the vacuum hardly becomes trapped. Indeed, it continued to operate amid a floor strewn with Nerf darts after an epic fight with my children.

The Roborock app enables you to schedule sessions, change the suction force, and specify the number of passes the device makes through a given room. After a few runs, the S6 would have gathered sufficient data to create a map of your house, allowing you to define no-go areas.

Setting up took about 15 minutes, including preparation. What you need to do is charge the vacuum on the dock and connect it with the app.

The most well-priced robot vacuum cleaner

The Moose MT-720 is the least expensive of the versions that worked well in trials. It’s solid, simple to use, and penetrates deeply into crevices.

It took five minutes to set up the vacuum. The software allows you to program the vacuum to clean at the same time per day or to vary the routine. Additionally, you can select between intelligent, wall follows, spiral, random, and manual control cleaning modes. The app produces a chart of the cleaned region, but unlike other room mapping robot vacuums, it does not enable you to establish no-go areas.

On hardwood and carpet, the MT-720 performed admirably, taking up nearly all of the coffee leaves, kitty litter, and pet fur. It performed admirably in corners, falling within an inch of the corner and taking up 70% of flour on carpeting and 85% on hard flooring. With a diameter of 12.5 inches and a height of 3 inches, the vacuum cleaner is compact enough to fit into narrow spaces that other models can skip.

Contrary to expectations, the heavy suction did not result in a noisy procedure. The sound meter measured 66 dB at maximum suction, which is somewhat quieter than a corporate office. It was 59 dB on low, which is somewhat louder than usual conversation.

The primary disadvantage of the MT-720 is its proclivity for being trapped. It always became trapped on the one-inch threshold between the testing area’s living room and kitchen during testing.

The most advanced robotic vacuum cleaner and mop

In comparison to pushing a damp cloth about, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo Pro Mopping System thoroughly cleans surfaces. When used in conjunction with the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI Robot Vacuum, the two automate time-consuming tasks.

I’ve tried some mopping systems and the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo Pro Mopping Machine attachment is the strongest. Scrubbing at 480 vibrations every minute provides a thorough rinse. It enhanced the efficiency of the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI Robot Vacuum.

The 240mL water tank was sufficient to make two passes over the 500-square-foot test floor. The software allows you to choose between four different water flow rates to achieve the optimal combination of moisture and rapid drying, as well as two different mopping patterns. The deep scrubbing method cleans thoroughly, while the fast scrubbing option is for regular mopping.

Regarding the robot vacuum itself, the Ozmo T8 AIVI features high-definition footage and a microphone, allowing you to track your pets or look for open windows and doors from your tablet.

The more helpful function is the auto-empty station, which empties the dustbin automatically after cleaning sessions. You just replace the plastic pouch once or twice a month.

The Ozmo T8 AIVI was among the fastest at avoiding the debris categories checked on both carpeting and hardwood. Additionally, it operates at a relatively low noise level of 67 dB on the peak cleaning setting and 58 dB in Quiet mode.

However, the vacuum cleaners were trapped on a one-inch lip in rooms on a regular basis. Additionally, it was unable to approach corners within two centimetres.

The most powerful robotic vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors

The D-shaped iRobot Roomba s9+ Robot Vacuum performed best in our hardwood floor tests, and it comes equipped with a self-emptying dustbin, an awesome software that allows you to create no-go areas, and big main brushes that pick up debris on the first move.

The Roomba s9+ Robot Vacuum is iRobot’s top-of-the-line edition. It self-empties and is accompanied by an app that enables you to easily schedule cleanings, define no-go areas, and personalize your cleaning experience, including combining it with the iRobot Braava Jet M6 (sold separately) to mop after the vacuum cycle is complete.

The Roomba s9+ outperformed all other robot vacuums in practice on hardwood flooring. Following the washing period, barely a trace of flour remained. Its D-shaped form reached within an inch and a half of the corner, grabbing everything in its path. On carpeting, the results remained consistent with just around 10% of the flour remaining, 5% of the kitty litter remaining, and no coffee grounds or pet hairs discovered following examination. The device also did not get trapped in our testing field.

At 77 decibels (approximately as loud as a busy city street) on the high suction force, the s9+ was by far the loudest model checked, and even in Quiet mode, the vacuum is audible.

Additionally, the vac reached within an inch of the carpeted corner but left around 70% of the flour behind, indicating that it is not as effective at picking up fine debris on carpeting, especially in areas where the main brushes have difficulty reaching.

While the installation was straightforward, it took approximately 25 minutes. After connecting to the app, the majority of the period was spent downloading firmware upgrades.

The most powerful robotic vacuum cleaner for carpets

The iRobot Roomba i3+ Robot Vacuum’s solid suction and big key brushes that adjust to keep in touch with your carpeting make it an excellent choice for carpeted homes.

The iRobot Roomba i3+ Robot Vacuum is the most inexpensive choice from iRobot. It features automated dirt disposal, which automatically empties the vacuum’s dustbin. You just replace the plastic dirt bag once or twice a month.

The i3+ vacuumed up all of the coffee grounds, kitty litter, and pet hairs  set out on the carpet, leaving just around 5% of the flour behind — the highest result of all of the robot vacuums checked. It came within an inch of the wall in corners but left only half the flour behind. It worked better on hardwood floors, removing both coffee grounds and pet fur and leaving just around 5% of the kitty litter and around 10% of the flour behind. During its cleaning sessions, the robot vacuum did not get trapped.

Whereas other robot vacuums detect carpeting and improve suction, the i3+ offers reliably solid suction and automatically conducts several passes when it senses excess soil.

Setup is a breeze, taking little more than ten minutes, even linking to the intuitive software. Regrettably, the software does not support the development of no-go areas, necessitating the purchase of interactive wall barriers. The barriers work as advertised, but at about $40 each, the i3other +’s drawback is its loudness. My sound meter registered 68 decibels, and the suction force cannot be adjusted for a quieter clean.

Are Robot Vacuums Worth the Investment?

A robot vacuum cleaner is usually more expensive than a conventional vacuum cleaner (though not always). The models mentioned here vary in price from under $200 to over $1,000. Also at the low end, that’s a sizable investment. Consider what you get for your money.

Unless you adore vacuuming, the job itself is quite routine. Depending on the size of your home, a robot vacuum will save you minutes to hours of time per week by taking care of a fairly thankless chore. That is sufficient justification for certain people to accept one.

Additionally, robot vacuums have improved to the point that they are almost as efficient and powerful as conventional vacuums. The robots gathered here use cleaners, side brushes, and rotating brushes to clean your home almost as effectively as their upright counterparts. Additionally, they’re pretty small, which means they won’t take up much room. Additionally, they will move under the majority of couches and chairs, eliminating the need to rearrange the furniture. And if you do, the more sophisticated robots on this list utilize memory banks to keep track of where furniture is located in order to avoid colliding with it during a subsequent pass.

Additionally, smart robot vacuums have become much more accessible in recent years. What advantages does networking provide? The majority of Wi-Fi-enabled vacuum cleaners can be configured and operated remotely from a smartphone. Some can also be enabled through voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
